I don’t see many sunrises. To say I’m not a morning person is an exaggeration. It is so much more than that. That is far and above the best sleep I get in my day, from 4-6 am. If I wake too early it sets a low tone for my day.
And… this morning I am up. I am wandering the house like a spectral form of myself, wide awake and starting my day, as the first promise of new day slip from the horizon.
Usually, that is cause for despair from me as I look forward to a day of fatigue. This morning is different though. I am refreshed! The sun shines from a clear sky! (A rare thing this time of year in Minnesota.)
I can hear the lines of Lamentations echo through my mind…
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. (3:22-23)
With the strains of the song “great is thy faithfulness” streaming soft and sweet like the orange and yellow tendrils piercing the pink dawn.
I wish I had a form of camera that could capture and share the beauty of this moment, the ethereal experience of living peace.
How incredible that this is the God we serve. Who can make the ephemeral sunrise, and share it with me! True beauty! The definition of art!
Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love,
that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,
for in you I trust.
Make me know the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul.
As I wrap up this post, the sky has cleared to the most perfect of clear blues. A picture of our hope and promise for a future of beauty in Christ. May you have a blessed day!!
